Nvidia expands AI ties with Hyundai, Samsung, SK, Naver

NVIDIA is strengthening its ties with the South Korean government and major firms like Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Naver. They plan to deploy over 260,000 advanced AI GPUs in the country.
The announcement came at the APEC 2025 Summit in Gyeongju. It marks a big step to make South Korea a global AI hub.
Key Points:
The South Korean government plans to use about 50,000 GPUs for AI projects in its sovereign cloud.
Samsung, SK, and Hyundai will each get about 50,000 GPUs. These will help with smart manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and digital transformation.
Naver is committed to deploying around 60,000 GPUs to support enterprise AI workloads and “physical AI” (AI integrated with manufacturing, infrastructure, etc.).
This move fits NVIDIA’s plan to target markets with fewer export restrictions, like those affecting China.
Why It Matters:
The scale of GPU deployment is massive. It shows that compute infrastructure is now a national strategic asset, not just a business investment.
South Korea aims to be a key player in “physical AI.” This means AI will be used in factories, cars, and infrastructure, not just in software.
For NVIDIA, this boosts its global lead in the AI chip market. It also strengthens connections with key manufacturing and tech ecosystems.
U.S.-Korea cooperation on AI and semiconductors could change the game in global tech geopolitics. This comes as tensions rise between the U.S. and China over chips and AI.
Reddit CEO says chatbots are not a traffic driver

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman said in a recent earnings call that chatbots and AI tools aren’t bringing significant traffic to the platform. Reddit still depends mainly on direct visits and old search traffic, even with the growth of AI search and chat tools.
Key Points:
Huffman pointed out that Reddit allows AI builders like OpenAI and Google to use its data. However, these partnerships haven't yet led to more user traffic from chatbots.
He noted that the platform’s major traffic sources remain Google search and direct visits, not referrals from AI-chatbot feeds.
The comment comes as Reddit works to balance being a “human discussion engine.” This is happening while many parts of the web turn to AI for summarisation and conversation.
Why It Matters:
There’s a gap between the hype around conversational AI agents and their actual impact on traffic in social media and community platforms.
For companies wanting to invest in AI chatbots or conversational interfaces, Reddit's story is a warning. Just having a new interface doesn't mean people will notice it.
Platforms that rely on human interaction and community might face challenges. This is especially true when users switch to bot-driven or summarised experiences that skip regular visits.
Investors and startup founders should know that growth strategies with AI chatbots need to account for basic user behaviour. Factors like search, discovery, and retention matter. It’s not just about thinking “chat = traffic.”

Tim Cook says Apple is open to M&A on the AI front

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company is looking into mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to speed up its artificial intelligence (AI) plans. The company is investing more in AI. It’s also suggesting that buying or partnering with other firms might be a key part of its strategy.
Key Points:
Cook said Apple is “very open to M&A that speeds up our roadmap.” He added that the company isn’t limited by size, so both small and large deals are possible.
He said Apple is boosting its AI investments. They're shifting staff and integrating AI into devices, services, and platforms.
Apple has made a few small acquisitions this year, about seven, as Cook noted. However, this new approach hints that the company might look for larger, more strategic acquisitions in AI.
Why It Matters:
This marks a shift in Apple’s historically cautious acquisition strategy, especially in the AI space. If Apple moves into larger M&A, it could impact the competitive landscape for AI startups.
Apple can boost its AI skills by teaming up with outside firms. This move could help it stay competitive with rivals like Microsoft, which have heavily invested in AI.
For investors and analysts, Cook’s comments suggest Apple sees AI as a pivotal growth area for future services beyond just hardware.
Apple’s openness may offer new chances for startups and targets. But it also means more competition for sought-after AI companies.
