Why I finally left Spotify

YouTube has rolled out its likeness detection technology for eligible creators in the Partner Program. The tool allows creators to ask for the removal of AI-generated content that uses their face or voice without permission.
Key Points:
The rollout follows a pilot phase and this first wave is available to creators who received an invite email this morning.
Creators open the “Likeness” tab in YouTube Studio. They verify their identity with a photo ID and a selfie video. Then, the system scans for videos that might misuse their likeness.
Once detected, creators can either request removal of the content or archive it. They also have the option to opt out; if they do, YouTube stops scanning after ~24 hours.
The system is designed to guard against misuse. This includes unauthorized endorsements and deepfake videos that use a creator’s face or voice.
Why It Matters:
It lets creators manage their digital identity better. This is important because AI can easily create fake or altered media.
As generative AI grows stronger, platforms like YouTube are taking action to manage risks and protect users and creators.
This might lead other platforms to follow suit. Managing likeness and voice rights in AI media is becoming a major concern.
Veeam acquires data security company Securiti AI for $1.7bn

Veeam Software has announced a firm deal to buy Securiti AI for about $1.725 billion. This will be a mix of cash and stock. The deal will integrate Securiti AI’s “Data Command Center” with Veeam’s data-resiliency offering. This will help businesses govern, secure, and use their data for AI applications.
Key Points:
Securiti AI, founded in 2019 by Rehan Jalil, offers a platform that brings together data from different clouds. It also applies governance and security controls, acting as a “command center” for enterprise data.
Jalil will join Veeam as President of Security & AI once the deal closes, expected in early December 2025.
Veeam’s CEO Anand Eswaran said the deal reflects a new era where data must be “trusted, governed and ready to power AI,” not just protected against threats.
The acquisition boosts Veeam’s stance against rivals like Rubrik and Commvault in enterprise data security and AI.
Why It Matters:
The deal shows that data governance and security are now essential for AI adoption, not just for building models.
For businesses, a combined solution of backup and recovery, data governance, and AI-ready insights can make vendor choices easier and lower risks.
From an industry view, this shows more consolidation in the data-AI world. Companies are buying what they think is key for future AI value.

Serval raises $47 million to bring AI agents to IT service management

Serval, an AI startup for enterprises, has raised $47 million in a Series A round. Redpoint Ventures led the funding, with First Round Capital, General Catalyst, and BoxGroup also joining in. The company focuses on automating IT service management workflows with “agentic” AI. This means splitting automation into two parts: one agent creates the tools, while another agent uses them for help-desk or provisioning requests.
Key Points:
Serval lets teams describe IT automations in everyday language. Then, the system builds the workflow automatically.
The system has two working agents. You create or manage automation tools. These tools help with device setup or software access. The other deals with user help-desk requests by using those tools, based on permissions set by a manager.
Managers set rules for automations. This helps prevent issues, like an AI accidentally deleting company data.
Serval already counts companies including Perplexity, Mercor, and Together AI among its customers.
Why It Matters:
IT service management includes many routine tasks. These tasks are password resets, device provisioning, and access requests. This makes it perfect for automation.
Serval’s model uses AI agents to create tools. This could greatly cut down manual work and speed up internal operations.
The dual-agent design may help companies keep oversight and control in AI automation. This addresses a key worry when using AI on a large scale.
This funding round shows that investors are keen on enterprise AI infrastructure, not only on consumer apps.
